STORY
My name is LaVon Lopez (AKA) Queen Bee. My husband Manuel and I run a small family-based catering business in Centennial Colorado.

We specialize in authentic Homemade cooking, meals made to order and made with love. What sets our company apart from any other catering company is that we really care what our customers like and don’t like in their food. For example: If you don’t like onions you shouldn’t have to pick them out of your food. We cater to our customer’s food desires, dietary restrictions/needs, and religious food restrictions/beliefs.

2000
I’ve been asked why I chose “Queen Bee’s Kitchen” for my company name. There are a few reasons why I chose this name. Queen Bee's Kitchen has a sentimental meaning to it.

The first reason comes from our family heirloom of a “Bee ring” that was passed down from my Grandma Helen to my mother who recently passed away in 2017. Now, I own the Bee Ring and I had my Uncle Zach (Zach of Diamonds) convert the ring into a bracelet. My uncle Zach started calling me Queen Bee. So, that’s where the “Bee” comes from.

My great grandmother Mary Chavez made the best green Chile and she also owned a restaurant (Chavez’s) in Denver on 38th and Tennyson back in the 50’s late 60’s. Her recipe has been passed down from generation to generation.

I take pride in knowing my green chili has originated from my Great grandmother’s recipe. The recipe has never been written down; it has only been replicated by watching, tasting and making it.

My mother MaryAnn was also an excellent cook who made everything homemade. She showed all her children how to cook from scratch.

I always remember being in my Great Grandmother's, Grandmother's, and Mother's kitchen which always had a pot of beans and Chile on the stove. The “Kitchen” is where we did all of our gatherings. That’s where the “Kitchen” came in.
Growing up, my dad would call me “Queen of Sheba” and he would tell me that I was a “Diamond in the Rough”. That’s where the Queen came from.

I value my family and would like to carry on their legend through our company's name "Queen Bee’s Kitchen".
